Original Impressions
A Unique Artistic Expression

Steps to Creation

Mixed Media Mastery: Each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation, combining sketches, Japanese watercolors, Chinese inks, and intricate silk-screen-like techniques.

Innovative Techniques: By layering elements on watercolor paper and transparent acetate, I create vibrant, three-dimensional effects that transform with the viewer’s perspective.

Singular Artworks: No two pieces from the limited-edition run are identical, making each “Original Impression” a unique blend of creativity and cultural influence.

The start of the use of layers

Using montages, drawings, photography, and multiple layers of printing on watercolor paper and film to achieve the saturation and luster of each artwork.

Materials for the making of Le Chat

Using Japanese watercolors, Chinese ink, and colored pencils on archival watercolor papers. The artworks are printed on pure white watercolor paper, as it is the most absorbent material for taking in layer after layer of ink.

Painting and cutout montage

Many of the artworks consist of multiple layers of original pre-painted shapes. These shapes are cut out and layered together with additional watercolor and ink additions, forming sometimes  over five layers. These layers are then pulled apart to create templates for printing.

Painting and cutout montage

In some cases, the original artwork is entirely painted with Japanese watercolor and Chinese ink to create the layers and templates for printing. Each work, despite being part of a limited-edition print, is unique and original. No two prints from the limited-edition run are identical.
